ANOTHER PORK RECIPE!

I have altered this quite a bit over the years to make it fit our taste buds and to make it even more healthy! Here's my altered version...

Pork Chops & Brown Rice

3-4 cups cooked brown rice
4-6 pork chops
1-2 whole peppers (your choice color- I use whatever I have)
1/2 onion, chopped
1 can diced tomatoes, somewhat drained (or sliced whole tomatoes)
green beans
peas
thyme
lots of garlic
Worcesterhire sauce
salt & pepper

Pour rice into greased 9X13. Brown pork chops on both sides in skillet; set aside. Add remaining ingredients to skillet. (veggies, spices) Simmer 10 minutes, season with salt & pepper. Lay 3/4 of veggies on top of rice. Arrange pork chops and top with additional veggies. (If using sliced tomatoes, layer on top of pork chops) Sprinkle with salt & pepper. Bake, covered at 350 for 1 hour.

OOPS!

I don't know why I can never get my recipes right the first time I post them! Sorry! When you add the cabbage to the sausage, add 1/2 cup water also! :)

SIMPLE & YUMMY!
What more could you ask for?

Sounds bland, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

1 lb. Italian sausage
1 head cabbage
8 oz. pasta (I use egg noodles most often)

Brown sausage in stock pot. Drain all but 2 Tbsp. grease. Shred cabbage and add to sausage. With lid on, cook over med. heat about 7 minutes. Meanwhile, cook pasta. When cooked, drain and add to sausage/cabbage mixture. Salt, pepper, maybe some parsley (if you're not nursing!) and there you be! Enjoy! This has become a regular lunch around here!

FOR ALL YOU NURSING MAMAS OUT THERE!

Mama's Milk Tea tea has made a huge difference in my milk supply. They also say it greatly increases the quality of your milk, though I have no way to judge that for myself!

Two more things I have learned in my study about herbs and nursing:
* avoid high quantities of parsley and sage
* avoid peppermint

These are used to dry your milk up!

A 3 YEAR OLD'S BEDTIME PRAYER

Dear God,

Bless it to our bodies. Keep us safe on the roads everyday. Help our horses to have a huge pasture. Help "Patty" get gigantic big. Help Casey and Lily to work it out. Help the kitties to snuggle nice with Aden and help ________ not to get any more spankings today. Amen.

Not sure where they come up with things, but I was hardly holding my giggles in as she prayed. Casey and Lily are our two cats that fight constantly. "Patty" is our pig that we haven't butchered yet b/c we are waiting for her to get a little bit bigger. I'm assuming the "bless it to our bodies" part goes back to dinner! Oh and God does answer prayers...._____________ hasn't had any spankings since! :)

BEEN WAY TOO LONG... so here are my excuses!

1. NINE puppies are a LOT of work! It's been a little better now that they are outside more, but still... imagine all these little buggers (adorable as they are!) in my house at night! Cardboard and newspaper have been my best friends lately! They start to go to their new homes this weekend...

2. Bible studies! Monday nights I am involved in a ladies study. We are studying Psalms 120-135 with Beth's Moore's "Ascent of the Psalms". Thursday nights we have one in our home for families on the life of Abraham. All have been wonderful, but they do keep us a bit more busy!

3. House projects! Evan got the tile laid and grout done this week. We still need to seal the grout, put up the wood on the bottom half of the walls and add our trim, which has been ordered. We also plan to work on the office this weekend.

4. Herbs! I am completely intrigued with them right now! It is amazing how much we don't know about these God-given blessings! I'd like to do a whole bunch of posts just on this topic to share all I'm learning, but for now you'll just have to do your own reading at The Bulk Herb Store. When I'm not busy with everything else, I'm cramming as much info into my head as I can about these things. This website is a wonderful resource!

5. Quilting! My first quilt is finished! I have yet to take a "finished" picture of it, but I will post one as soon as I do. For now we just enjoy it every night on our bed! I have cut out the top piece to Aden's quilt and the sewing has begun.

6. Boarding horses! Okay, so this doesn't take much of my time, but it's been fun to add two new horses to our pasture this past week. "April & Wrangler" are our new "pasture guests". :) I have some pictures of them that I will try to post sometime as well.

7. The best reason I have put blogging on the back burner... my family! Though I so often feel completely inadequate, I strive to be the best wife and mom I can be and that requires a LOT of time!

JOSIAH'S DAY

Two years ago today, our son Josiah was born to heaven. I can tell you from experience that GOD IS FAITHFUL and HE DOES HEAL even the worst of hurts! Praise Him! Josiah will ALWAYS have a little piece of his mommy's heart, and even though healing has taken place, I will never forget him. New Year's Eve is still not quite the same as it use to be.
